MOBILE, Ala. - Sixteen year old Alexis Thompson fired a 5-under 67 on Saturday at the Crossings Course at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama to earn a share of the lead in the AVNET LPGA Classic.
Thompson, a resident of Coral Springs, has the opportunity to become the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history tomorrow. No player under the age of 18 years has ever won on the LPGA Tour.
When not traveling worldwide, Alexis has been keeping her game sharp by competing on The Fuzion Minor League Golf Tour where she has 9 top 10 finishes since October 2010.
Earlier this year Alexis won the TPC February Shootout at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs. After shooting a four under par 68 from 94% of the yardage of the 76 men in the field, she won a playoff on the first extra hole.
