Greg O'Mahony wins 2010 Fuzion Minor League Golf Tour Championship

JUPITER, Fla. – Greg O’Mahony of Tequesta turned up the intensity on the back nine each day at Abacoa Golf Club for a four-stroke victory in the seventh annual Tour Championship conducted by the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour.

After a pair of 36s on the front nine with two birdies and two bogeys each round, O’Mahony played the back nine in 31 Tuesday on an eagle and three birdies, and 35 Wednesday with one birdie and eight pars for 138. It was O’Mahony’s ninth MLGT victory, his seventh this year. He earned $4,000

Tied for second at 142 were Pierre-Henri Soero of Palm Beach Gardens, who closed with 69, and Ben Hartman of Jupiter and Taylor Stewart of Bonita Springs, each with 72. They received $1,700 apiece.

The $20,703 purse was boosted by $2,500 in added money from the MLGT which was distributed to the top three places in the 56-player field.

The MLGT’s seventh season ends Friday with the Holiday Team Championship at the Santa Lucia River Club in Port St. Lucie. The new season will open Jan. 7 at the Links at Madison Green in Royal Palm Beach.

There was $300 in the Day 2 skins pot with 2 skins out worth $150 each.

JUPITER, Fla. - Greg O'Mahony of Tequesta, Florida fired a 5-under par 67 on Tuesday to take a 2 shot lead into the final round of the 2010 Fuzion MLGT Tour Championship over Scott Ford of Palm Beach Gardens. 30 of 56 players are at 4 over par 76 or better.

Greg Forest, Taylor Stewart, and Ben Hartman, who came in second place yesterday, were tied for third at 2-under par 70 on a uncommonly cold December day. In fact, the low temperature of 33 degrees tied a record low set almost 50 years ago back in 1962.

There was $320 in the Day 1 skins pot with four skins out worth $80 each.
