Brian Anderson wins at PGA National's Champion Course

Nick Cupper, Marc Issler, and Jeff Ivall tie for second

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Brian Anderson of Rochester, Ill., earned his 15th victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour with a four under par 68 Wednesday on the Champion course at PGA National.

Anderson, 29, eagled the par-5 sixth and 18th holes and matched four birdies (Nos. 3, 4, 9 and 10) against four bogies (2, 8, 13 and 16) on the course which has hosted the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic each March since 2007.

He received $950 from the $5,500 purse, raising his career MLGT earnings to $34,834.46 since Dec. 12, 2005 when he won his first Minor League start. Prior to Wednesday, his most recent victory was last Oct. 18.

Nick Cupper from Hollywood, Florida, Marc Issler of Tequesta, and Jeff Ivall of Palm Beach Gardens, tied for second place with 3-under par 69. Both Cupper and Ival dropped 2 shots in the Bear Trap (holes 15, 16 & 17). Ival then proceeded to hit the par-5 eighteenth hole in two, giving him a eagle putt to tie Anderson, but ended up with a two putt birdie

The marker at the 15th as you enter the Bear Trap says: “It should be won or lost right here.” The inscription by Jack Nicklaus, The Champion Course designer. The three holes that comprise the Bear Trap are said to be “three of the toughest holes in South Florida.

The MLGT’s 54th tournament of the year drew 47 starters.

There was $260 in the skins pot with 2 skins out worth $130 each.
