Terry Burke and Derrick Bohannon shoot 63, Burke wins Playoff

Jimmy Lytle increases Q-School Contest Lead with 2 events left

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Terry Burke of Bethesda, Md., birdied the first playoff hole Tuesday at President Country Club to edge Derrick Bohannon of Jensen Beach for his third victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour.

After they tied at eight under par 63 on the Eagle course, Burke two-putted from 50 feet near the front of the green at the par-5 first hole. Bohannon had made it easy after hitting his first shot of the playoff into the water.

Each player made nine birdies and a bogey. Burke, at 51 nearly twice Bohannon’s 26 years, birdied his first three holes, Bohannon the first four. Burke finished with birdies at 15, 16 and 17, while Bohannon was birdie-bogey-birdie-birdie on his last four.

Burke received $750 from the $3,750 purse. Bohannon, second among 30 starters, earned $550. The latter has a career total of 16 MLGT wins, two this year, and was the winner of 2011 Q-School Contest 2.

Matt LeConche of Wellington finished with 67 for solo third, followed by Q-School Contest 5 leader, all time MLGT money winner Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge, FL with 68. The first ever MLGT Q-School Contest winner, Brett Bergeron of LaPlace, LA was 5th with 69.

There was $180 in the skins pot with 3 skins out worth $60 each.
