Jordan Holley goes deep, wins by 6 shots

PLANTATION, Fla. – Jordan Holley of Greensboro, N.C., and Boynton Beach cruised to a six-stroke victory Thursday in a Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour event on the East course at Jacaranda Golf Club. Ahead by six after a 66 the first round Wednesday, Holley added 69 for 135, scoring an eagle, seven birdies and two bogeys (one each day) in 36 holes. He earned $1,500 from the $6,000 purse. It was his second MLGT title, the first coming a week and a half ago, Nov. 21, at Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter. Tied for second at 141 were Tim Turpen of West Palm Beach and John Stoltz of Kiamesha Lake, N.Y., on final round scores of 69 and 70. Each received $962.50. The MLGT’s eighth annual Tour Championship is scheduled next Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 7-8) at Abacoa. There will be added money of $2,500 in addition to the normal purse. An 18-hole event will be played Monday at Fountains CC-West, Lake Worth. There was $80 in the day 2 skins pot with 7 skins out worth $11.42 each. |
