JUPITER, Fla. – Justin Peters of Stuart chipped in from eight feet behind the green for birdie as he teamed with Mike Larkin of Gibsonia, Pa., to win the 27-hole, Par 3 Team Trilogy tournament at the Jupiter Dunes Golf Club.

Peters and Larkin outlasted two other teams in the unique event in which players competed in scramble on the back nine, alternate shots on the front, then four-ball stroke play back on the back. They received $820 apiece from the $8,120 purse.

Peters’ birdie at the 11th hole beat out Jordan Holley and Nathan Stamey of Boynton Beach. Olin Browne Jr. and Gabe Costa of Tequesta were eliminated when they bogeyed the first playoff hole, No. 10.

The three teams had tied at 11 under par 70. It was Peters’ 31st victory, the first for Larkin, in the newly named Golfslinger.com Tour, formerly the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour.

In an option skins game, two holes-in-one split the entire $1,080 pot. Jimmy Hazen aced No. 14 with a pitching wedge from 135 yards and Matt Springer also holed a pitching wedge, his was on No. 17, measuring 125 yards. There were 28 teams in the starting lineup.

Three events remain before the Christmas holiday break: Wednesday, Links at Madison Green, Royal Palm Beach; Friday, a more conventional two-man team event at Santa Lucia River Club, Port St. Lucie; and next Monday, Fountains CC, Lake Worth.
