Brandon Smith holds off Justin Peters with birdie on 2nd extra hole

WELLINGTON, Fla. – Brandon Smith of West Palm Beach edged Justin Peters of Stuart with a birdie on the second playoff hole Thursday in a Golfslinger.com Tour event at Binks Forest Golf Club.

After they tied at four under par 68 and halved the first extra hole with par-4s, Peters two-putted from 30 feet and Smith sank a 12-foot birdie putt for the victory at the par-5 second. In regulation, Smith had five birdies and bogeyed the 18th hole. Peters made five of his eight birdies on the back nine after scoring four bogeys on the front.

It was Smith’s 12th Golfslinger victory, two of which came before he turned pro in 2010 and two more in late-January. He earned $1,000 from the $4,821purse. Peters, who finished second among 37 players here, received $575. He has 32 Golfslinger wins.

There was $200 in the skins pot with 5 skins out worth $40 each.
