Birdie on 2nd extra hole earns Derrick Bohannon 18th GOLFslinger Tour win

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Derrick Bohannon of Jensen Beach and Shelbyville, Ky., birdied the second extra hole Monday at Ironhorse to win the Club Fit Classic, his 18th victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.

After they tied at two under par 70 and matched par-4s on the first playoff hole, Bohannon beat Sunny Kim of Palm Beach Gardens and Sal Spallone of Vero Beach by making an eight-foot putt for the win at the par-4 second. Moments earlier, Kim and Spallone had two-putted for pars, Sunny from 20 feet and Sal from 25 feet.

In regulation, Bohannon and Kim each had four birdies and two bogeys. Spallone made five birdies, a bogey and a double bogey. Kim has 20 Golfslinger wins, Spallone five. Bohannon earned $1,000 from the $2,997 purse. Kim and Spallone, tied for second among 19 starters, received $462.50 apiece.

This event was the first of five tournaments in a 6 round contest, where the player with the lowest total score for the six rounds will earn $1,000 towards a Nationwide or PGA Tour Monday Qualifier. This is the fourth of ten such contests on the 2012 GOLFslinger.com Tour.

Geoff Lee of Palm Beach Gardens tied for fourth with Justin Peters of Stuart 1 shot out of the playoff at 1-under par 71.

Next on the schedule is a 36-hole tournament Wednesday and Thursday at Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter, then 3 one-day events next week to finish out the contest and the first half of the year, after which the GOLFslinger.com Tour will be on summer break From June 22nd-July 8th.

Next weeks schedule, Monday June 18 at Indian Spring Country Club in Boynton Beach, Wednesday June 20 at North Palm Beach Country Club and Thursday June 21 at Jacaranda Country Club in Ft. Lauderdale.
