Michael Tobiason shoots 28 on the back nine to win 1st MLGT event

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Michael Tobiason of Wilmington, Del., four over par after five holes, rallied to win for the first time on the Minor League Golf Tour Thursday with a five under par 66 on the Eagle course at President Country Club.

Tobiason, 27, bogeyed the first two holes and made a double bogey at the par-4 fifth. He responded with five birdies (No. 7, 8, 11, 12 and 14) and eagles at the par-5 10th and par-4 15th holes to card 38-28—66, winning by two shots. Tobiason received $1,000 from the $7,260 purse, raising his career MLGT earnings to $6,137.54. He has made 25 starts on the MLGT since November, 2007, six this year.

Carlos Velez of Miami, Scott Hawley from Shrewsbury, Mass., Ben Hartman of West Palm Beach, and Brad Adamonis of Coral Springs tied for second at 4-under par 68, earning $556.25 each.

The MLGT’s 18th tournament this year drew 62 starters. Two events are scheduled next week, Monday at TPC Eagle Trace, Coral Springs, and a 2-Day starting Tuesday at Abacoa GC in Jupiter.

There was $310 in the skins pot with 5 skins out worth $62 each.
