Sal Spallone Wins 2-Day Major by 1 shot over Jason Caron

Spallone shot 65-72 to pick up the $3,000 winner's check

JUPITER, Fla. – Sal Spallone of Vero Beach birdied the 17th hole and earned his sixth victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour Wednesday at Abacoa Golf Club when Jason Caron of Jupiter bogeyed the 18th.

Spallone edged Caron 137 to 138, earning $3,000 from the $20,150 purse. Claiming his first MLGT win since Feb. 9, 2010, Spallone shot 65-72 with seven birdies for a share of the opening round lead, three birdies and three bogeys Wednesday.

Caron, second among 66 players, carded 68-70 with six birdies and two bogeys Tuesday, an eagle, a birdie and the decisive bogey Wednesday. He received $1,850. Caron has three MLGT titles.

The MLGT has three 18-hole tournaments next week: Monday, Santa Lucia River Club, Port St. Lucie; Wednesday, Champions Club, Stuart; and Friday, Links @ Madison Green, Royal Palm Beach.

Greg O'Mahony made eagle on #10 for the whole Day 1 skinsk pot of $340.

There was $340 in the Day 2 skins pot with 3 skins out worth $113.34 each.
