Derrick Bohannon fires a 6-under par 66, wins by 2

JUPITER, Fla. – Derrick Bohannon of Shelbyville, Ky., fired a six under par 66 Wednesday at Abacoa Golf Club to earn his 16th victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour. Bohannon made only one bogey, at the par-3 13th hole, and birdied Nos. 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 16 and 17. The sixth and 17th holes are par-5s. The other birdies were on par-4s.

Bohannon, 27, received $850 from the $4,343 purse, raising his career earnings to $68,124 since he joined the MLGT in May, 2006. His most recent MLGT win was on March 9 at Binks Forest GC in Wellington.

David Johnson of Palm Bay was second among 36 players in the MLGT’s 63rd tournament of the year. He scored 68 on an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys.

Amateur Gabe Costa tied for third place with Bobby Collins at 3-under par 69 followed by Greg O'Mahony of Tequesta in fifth by himself with 70.

On Thursday, the MLGT makes its first trip to Miccosukee CC in Miami, site of a Nationwide Tour in October for all but one year since 2003.

There was $210 in the skins pot with 5 skins out worth $42 each.
