NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. – Brett Bergeron of LaPlace, La., sank a four-foot putt for par on the sixth extra hole Thursday for his 22nd victory on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour. He outlasted Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach after they tied at four under par 67 at North Palm Beach Country Club. Moments earlier at the par-3 15th hole, LeBrun had missed a five footer for par. Both had missed the green off the tee.

They had halved the 10th, 11th, 12th and 14th holes with par-4s. At the par-3 13th, Bergeron stayed alive by holing a shot from off the green for birdie moments after LeBrun’s eagle putt slid past the hole.

Scott Marino of Tequesta also shot 67 but missed out on the playoff when his group was penalized two strokes apiece for hitting from the wrong tee box at 16. They discovered their mistake before hitting from the 17th tee and were penalized two strokes rather than being disqualified.

In regulation, Bergeron, playing in the last group of the 25-man field, had five birdies and a bogey. He earned $675 from the $3,040 purse. LeBrun, playing just ahead of Bergeron’s pairing, made his sixth birdie of the day at the 18th hole. He had two bogeys. LeBrun, who holds the career record with 33 MLGT titles, received $500.
