Matt Springer wins by one after playing last 14 holes 7-under par

Guillermo Pumarol and Ben Silverman tied for 2nd with 69

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Matt Springer of Gary, Ind., overcame a shaky start with seven birdies on his last 14 holes Wednesday for a four under par 68 at the Falls Country Club to claim his fourth victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.

Springer, 28, began his round double bogey-par-bogey, three over after three holes, before rallying with birdies at Nos. 5, 7, 8, 12, 15, 16 and 17. He collected $1,000 from the $3,812 purse, raising his career earnings to $26,291 since June, 2008.

Guillermo Pumarol of Doral shot 69 and tied for second place with Ben Silverman of Palm Beach Gardens. Silverman also finished T2 yesterday at The Fountains Country Club. Jeff Ivall of Palm Beach Gardens was solo fourth at 2-under par 70.

The 54th tournament of the year drew 28 starters. The 888th event since Golfslinger began in August, 2004, will be played Thursday at the Champions Club at Summerfield in Stuart.

There was $140 in the skins pot with 3 skins out worth $46.67 each.
