Derrick Bohannon birdies 18 for 1 shot win over Sunny Kim

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. – With both playing in the final pairing Tuesday, Derrick Bohannon birdied the 18th hole to win a Golfslinger.com Tour event at The Links at Madison Green, edging Sunny Kim by a shot, 65 to 66.

Until then, each player had seven birdies and each made his only bogey of the round at the par-4 fifth hole. Bohannon, of Jensen Beach and Shelbyville, Ky., birdied Nos. 1, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13 and 16; Kim, of Palm Beach Gardens, at 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 15.

It was Bohannon’s 19th Golfslinger title, his 7th at Madison Green and his third this year. He earned $1,000 from the $3,442 purse. Kim, second among 24 starters, received $550. He has 20 Golfslinger victories.

The Golfslinger Tour plays Thursday on the Champion course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, site of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. Three 18-hole events are scheduled next week.

There was $100 in the skins pot with 6 skins out worth $16.67 each.
