Sunny Kim blisters Winston Trails with 9 birdies in final round

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Sunny Kim of Palm Beach Gardens fired a closing round of nine under par 63 Wednesday at Winston Trails for a come-from-behind victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.

At 134, he finished one shot ahead of first round co-leaders Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge and Ben Silverman of Palm Beach Gardens, each scoring 65-70—135 to tie for second among 12 starters.

Kim did not make a bogey the final round with birdies at Nos. 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16 and 18. He had three birdies and a double bogey at the par-5 ninth hole Tuesday for 71 to trail Lytle and Silverman by six.

Kim earned $2,000 from the $4,350 purse. It was his eight win of the year, his fourth in a 36-hole event. Overall, Kim has 22 wins and career earnings of $104,049 since joining the Golfslinger Tour in October, 2006.

Golfslinger’s 18-hole tournament Thursday was moved from Breakers-Rees Jones to North Palm Beach CC because of the lingering affects of flooding last week after Tropical Storm Isaac.

There was $80 in the Day 2 skins pot with 3 skins out worth $26.67 each
