Greg O'Mahony's Birdie, Eagle, Birdie start to back nine earns win

David McAndrew shot 70 to finish 2nd, 1 shot back

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Greg O’Mahony of Tequesta was the only player to break 70 Tuesday in a Golfslinger.com Tour event at Bear Lakes Country Club, winning with a three under par 69.

With the Links stretched out to nearly 7,400 yards, O’Mahony, 26, eagled the par-5 11th hole after turning in 37. He birdied Nos. 2, 6, 10, 12 and 16, and bogeyed 5, 8, 9 and 18. He earned $1,000 from the $3,672 purse.

It was O’Mahony’s 14th Golfslinger victory since he turned pro in August, 2009, a few days after winning the Palm Beach Open as an amateur. His career Golfslinger earnings have reached $51,297.

Only one other player broke par. David McAndrew of Barrington, R.I., posted 70 on five birdies and three bogeys to finish second among 27 starters.

Next on the schedule: Thursday at Jacaranda GC in Plantation.

There was $100 in the skins pot with 7 skins out worth $14.29 each.
