Río Grande, Puerto Rico - Sal Spallone shot a 2-under par 70 at the Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club Monday to grab one of the four spots available for the PGA TOUR 2011 Puerto Rico Open. Spallone a Nationwide Tour player from Vero Beach, Florida, won the Fuzion MLGT 2-Day Major at Abaco on February 23rd. Since 2009 he has earned over $23,000 on the MLGT. Jason Hrynkiw, a PGA Member, qualified at The Dye Preserve on Tuesday, February 22, by shooting a 3-under par 69.
P.H. Horgan and Robin Byrd qualified for the Champions Tour Toshiba Classic Monday at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma. Byrd of Austin, Texas finished as the top qualifier after he shot six-under-par 65 and Horgan (68) of Newport, R.I. grabbed one of the final two qualifying spots after a five-way playoff. Horgan made par on the fourth playoff hole to qualify for the Toshiba Classic, which begins Friday at Newport Beach Country Club.
