Golf is hard right? Well if that is the case Sunny Kim from Queens, NY hasn't gotten the memo. Kim now resides in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and has since 2006. He practices at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club and competes regularly on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Let's break down the first 143 days of 2019. Sunny has played in 24 MLGT events. He has won 6 of them (25%) including two Monday Qualifier Contests and one Major. His scoring average is 69.08 and he has only had 4 rounds over par. He is a collective 57 under par and is showing no signs of slowing down. He leads the career money list with $262,865 and the 2019 money list with $22,122, averaging almost $1,000 per start.
It's obvious he's the hottest player on the MLGT right now and as much as we love seeing Sunny play this well, we want to see him play this well at the next level which is exactly why the MLGT is structured the way it is. The MLGT is a low cost developmental golf tour which ran 122 tournaments in 2018. It is an affordable professional training ground for players that aspire to play on the PGA, Web.com or other status Tours.
Along with 1-day and multi day tournaments year round, the MLGT runs Qualifying School Contests and Monday Qualifier Contests to help players pay for Q-School and Monday Qualifiers in an attempt to play their way up to the next level.
