This year the United States Open is being held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. The National Championship will be played June 12-15, 2025.
The process of determining the field of 156 players begins with 10,202 entrants and proceeds through two stages of qualifying, local and final. Players who survive qualifying have a chance to play in a Major Championship, with the biggest names in golf.
This years local qualifying was held at 110 sites across the country between April 16th and May 19th. Each local qualifier consists of 18 holes, with several players, determined by the size of the field, advancing to final qualifying.
88 players with MLGT experience will be playing in this years final qualifying.
This year there are 13 final qualifying sites - 10 in the United States, 1 in Canada, 1 in England and 1 in Japan. The final qualifiers take place on May 19th and June 2nd. Played over 36 holes in one day, final qualifying is a test of skill and endurance, with only a handful of available spots at each site. The actual number of qualifying spots is determined by the quality and quantity of the field at each location.
