WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Devin Kay of Potomac, Md., sank a 30-foot birdie putt from the back fringe on the fourth playoff hole Wednesday to earn his second victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.
After they tied at three under par 69 at West Palm Beach Golf Course, Kay, 25, outlasted Willy Pumarol of Dominican Republic, who bogeyed the par-4 first extra hole; Ryan Armour of Jupiter, who bogeyed the par-5 second hole; and Pat Steffes of Milwaukee, Wis., Kay and Steffes halved the third hole with par-3s.
In regulation, Kay birdied the third and eagled the 12th hole. He received $1,000 from the $4,847 purse, raising his career earnings to $38,965.79 since he joined Golfslinger in July, 2010. His previous victory was on July 19, 2012, at Fountains CC near Lake Worth.
Pumarol, Armour and Steffes tied for second among 37 starters and collected $503.34 apiece.
There was $180 in the skins pot with 6 skins out worth $30 each.
