LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Sal Spallone of Vero Beach eagled the first extra hole Monday to earn his seventh victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour. He beat Christian DeGreiff of Colombia and Scott Hawley of Shrewsbury, Mass., after they tied at two under par 70 on the South course at Fountains Country Club.
In regulation, Spallone also eagled the 12th hole and had his third birdie of the day at the 18th hole. He also bogeyed three times. DeGreiff made six birdies and four bogeys. Hawley double bogeyed the first hole, also eagled No. 12 and made three birdies and a bogey. DeGreiff and Hawley tied for second among 24 starters.
There was a purse of $2,910 for Golfslinger’s 43rd tournament of the year. The circuit has played 998 events since starting in August, 2004. No. 999 is scheduled Tuesday at The Wanderers Club in Wellington. The Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie will host the 1,000th event Friday.
There was $100 in the skins pot with 4 skin out worth $25 each.
