PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Geoff Lee of Palm Beach Gardens, playing in the game’s final threesome, eagled the 18th hole for a one-stroke victory Tuesday on the Golfslinger.com Tour.
At six under par 66 on the Estate course at PGA National, Lee slipped past Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge who had finished earlier with 67 after he birdied the last three holes.
It was the fourth Golfslinger victory for Lee, 43, who received $900 from the $4,810 purse, raising his career earnings to $7,960. Lee joined Golfslinger in May, 2008. He made five birdies and a bogey before finishing with an 18-foot eagle putt on the final hole for the win. Lytle had eight birdies and three bogeys.
Golfslinger’s 72nd tournament of the year drew 37 entries. Two more 18-hole events are scheduled this week, Wednesday on PGA National’s Palmer course and Friday at Martin Downs in Palm City.
There was $190 in the skins pot with 3 skins out worth $63.33 each.
