JUPITER, Fla. – Chris Scialo of New City, N.Y., made up two strokes on the final hole Monday to earn his fifth victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour, edging Eric Cole of Orlando by a shot, 65 to 66, at Abacoa Golf Club. Scialo birdied the par-4 18th hole, his eighth of the day. He had one bogey and collected $750 from the $4,000 purse, raising his career earnings to $20,430 since he joined Golfslinger in November, 2010.
About a half-hour earlier, Cole, son of former touring pros Bobby Cole and Laura Baugh Cole, bogeyed the 18th hole, his only error of the day, after scoring five birdies on the front nine and an eagle at the par-5 10th hole. Cole received $575. Since joining Golfslinger in August, 2009, Cole has won 14 times and totaled $38,323.
Andy Golden of Davie, FL shot a 5-under par 67 to tie for third place with Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY and Carl McCauley from Parkland, Florida.
The 101st tournament of the year drew 40 entries. Next on the Tour’s schedule: Tuesday, Palmer course at PGA National, and Thursday, Osprey Creek course at Martin Downs CC.
There was $160 in the skins pot with 3 skins out worth $56.67 each.
