PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Brandon Smith of West Palm Beach fired a six under par 66 on the Fazio course at PGA National, winning by a stroke Tuesday for his 21st victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.
He received $700 from the $3,450 purse, raising his career earnings to $63,668 since January, 2010. He played the tour as an amateur from October, 2005 through the end of 2009, winning twice.
Olin Browne Jr. of Hobe Sound shot 67 and was second by a stroke among 23 starters in Golfslinger’s 104th tournament of the year. Chris Scialo of New City, N.Y., was another shot back at 68. Browne got $580, Scialo $510.
Smith made five birdies on the front, Briowns four on the back nine. Each made one bogey on the outward half.
The month’s schedule ends Thursday at Winston Trails GC, Lake Worth, followed by an event Friday (Nov. 1) on the nearby Estate course at PGA National.
There was $90 in the skins pot with 7 skins out worth $12.86 each.
