JUPITER, Fla. – Derrick Bohannon of Shelbyville, Ky., birdied the 18th hole for a one-stroke victory Monday as the GOLFslinger.com Tour resumed play after its summer break. Bohannon posted a four under par 68 with three birdies and a bogey on each nine at Jupiter Country Club. Four players tied for second at 69.

It was his 25th win since Bohannon, a resident of nearby Stuart, joined GOLFslinger in May, 2006, his first since last August. He received $625 from the $2,320 purse, raising his career earnings to $97,672.75. He birdied Nos. 4, 6, 9, 15, 16 and 18, and bogeyed the third and 10th holes.

Eric Cole of Orlando, Mike Kartrude of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge, FL, and Zac Oakley of Lewes, DE, tied for second place at 3-under par 69.

There were 16 starters for GOLFslinger’s 68th tournament of the year. There are two more 18-hole events this week, Wednesday at TPC Eagle Trace, Coral Springs, and Thursday at North Palm Beach CC.

A 36-hole “major” is scheduled next Monday and Tuesday on the Fazio course at PGA National, which will host the final stage of The Web.com Tour Qualifying in December. With 40 entries, the winner is guaranteed $6,000, or $10,000 with at least 60 players.
