JUPITER, Fla. – Carl McCauley of Parkland earned his third Golfslinger.com Tour victory Tuesday when his playoff opponent, Paul Curry of Colchester, Great Britain, could not continue at Abacoa Golf Club because of a back injury. McCauley and Curry matched five under par 67s, each scoring six birdies and a bogey. McCauley earned $720, Curry $585, from the $2,880 purse.
In a separate event combining scores from Abacoa and a similar tournament Monday at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, the winner was Evan Beirne of North Haven, Conn. He had a pair of 71s to win at Eagle Trace and finish fifth at Abacoa, earning $625. There were six contestants who paid an additional entry fee.
The 51st tournament of the year drew 20 players. Golfslinger returns to Abacoa for another 18-hole event Thursday.
