PLANTATION, Fla. – Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, N.Y., made four birdies on the inward nine Wednesday enroute to a two under par 69 and a one-stroke victory in a Minor League Golf Tour tournament at Jacaranda Golf Club.
McCarthy, 29, outdueled two pros from Venezuela and an amateur from El Salvadore for his 30th MLGT win since October, 2007. After turning in 37 on a birdie and three bogeys, McCarthy birdied Nos. 10, 12, 14 and 17 for 32. He received $600 from the $2,268 purse, raising his career earnings to $95,295.82.
Rafael Guerrero of Venezuela shot 70 on two birdies and a bogey to finish second among 18 starters, followed at par 71 by another Venezuelan, Robert DeBiase, and amateur Rodrigo Sol of El Salvador.
