PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge fired a six under par 66 on the Estate course at PGA National to improve his status on two counts Monday as the top player on the Minor League Golf Tour.

It was the 45th MLGT victory for Lytle. He received $750 from the $3,834 purse, raising his career earnings to $172,719 since he joined the Tour in July, 2006. He won twice before turning pro Aug. 5, 2008.

Lytle, 28, eagled the short par-5 fifth hole, birdied Nos. 1, 6, 11, 13 and 15, and bogeyed the par-5 ninth, the longest hole on the course.

Tied for second at 67 among 27 starters in the MLGT’s 35 tournament of the year were Alejandro Garmendia of Weston on two eagles, two birdies and a bogey, and Brad Adamonis of Cumberland, R.I., with eight birdies and three bogeys. Each received $562.50.

Monday’s tournament honored the memory of Justin Fonseca of Great River, N.Y., a former MLGT player who died in an automobile accident last summer. The Tour donated $250 plus $5 from each entry in Fonseca’s name to The First Tee for a total of $385. Jim Hazen of Miller Place, N.Y., also donated his prize money, another $36.67. Fonseca played The Minor League Golf Tour each winter for the past four seasons, starting back in 2011.

Two more 18-hole tournaments are scheduled this week: Tuesday, Ocean Breeze GC, Boca Raton, and Thursday, Fountains CC-West, Lake Worth.
