WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Steve LeBrun claimed his ninth victory in his last twelve starts on the Minor League Golf Tour with a seven under par 65 Thursday on the Rees Jones course at Breakers West. LeBrun, 37, of West Palm Beach, FL, did not make a bogey, scoring birdies at Nos. 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 13, winning by two shots. Overall, it was LeBrun’s 47th victory since he joined the MLGT in August, 2007. He received $760 from the $3,860 purse, raising his career earnings to $126,334.88.
Two shots behind LeBrun were three players tied for 2nd at 5-under par 67 including Zac Oakley from Lewes, DE, Matthew Ceravolo from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Mason Jacobs from Metropolis, IL.
The MLGT’s 80th tournament of the year drew 30 entries. Next on the schedule: Monday, Hollybrook Golf and Tennis Club in Pembroke Pines, and next Wednesday and Thursday, Martin Downs CC in Palm City. The latter event will be the tour’s third Major of the year with the winner receiving a minimum of $3,000, or $6,000 with at least 45 entries, $10,000 if there are 60 or more contestants.
A big thank you to Breakers West for hosting us before 1st Stage of Web.com Qualifying School. It was a great test for the players. One more tune up is scheduled at Breakers West on Thursday 10/1 before 1st Stage starts October 13th.
