LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Jon McLean of Weston, FL made three straight birdies midway through his round Monday enroute to a two-stroke victory at Winston Trails Golf Club for his seventh victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.
McLean, 29, made two birdies early, at Nos. 1 and 4, then birdied 8, 9 and 10 in succession, adding two more, at the 14th and 18th holes. He did not have a bogey. McLean received $525 from the $2,180 purse, raising his career earnings to $34,430.41 since he joined the MLGT in January, 2010, when he won two of his first three starts.
Mike Kartrude, Geoff Lee, Matthew Ceravolo, and Douglas Ebe all tied for 2nd place after carding rounds of 5-under par 67.
The MLGT’s 74th tournament of its 12th season drew 20 starters. Next on the schedule: Wednesday, Martin Downs Country Club in Palm City, and August 31-September 2, Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill.
