CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Mitchell Gregson of Waterloo, IL, fired a four under par 68 Wednesday at TPC Eagle Trace for his second victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. A former Kansas State University golfer, Gregson, 30, scored five birdies and a bogey and collected $675 from the $2,665 purse, raising his career earnings to $8,252.
The win came one day short of three years after Gregson made his MLGT debut with a tie for second at Atlantis Country Club. He edged Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, who claimed his 40th MLGT win Monday at Park Ridge Golf Course. McCarthy shot a bogey-free 69 with three birdies, receiving $525.
Six players chose to enter the optional $100 bonus pool creating a purse of $600. The bonus pool has a 33% payout which awarded $355 for first place and $245 for second.
The 111th tournament of the year drew 21 starters. Play resumes Thursday at Martin Downs CC, followed by three more one-day events next week prior to the Christmas break.
