LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Jeff Bronkema from Plainwell, MI, overcame an early double bogey with a couple of birdie splurges later in the round Tuesday to earn his third victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.
After he doubled the par-5 third hole, Bronkema, 26, birdied the fifth through the ninth holes, then the 16th and 17th to edge Kristian Caparros of Hollywood, FL 64 to 65 on the North course at Fountains Country Club.
Bronkema finished his round with an eagle at the par-5 11th hole, eight birdies and a bogey, earning $1,000 from the $5,775 purse. Caparros also eagled the 11th hole, and had five birdies and bogey to finish second among 42 starters. He collected $700.
Corey Stelick made a hole in one on the 184 yard par 3 5th hole.
There were two skins out worth $150 each. Click here to view skins results. Stelick did not enter the $20 optional skins game.
