Jordan Elsen closes with 62 to win Q-School Contest #4 Finale

PALM CITY, Fla. – Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, WI, broke away from the pack with a nine under par 62 in the final round Thursday at Martin Downs Country Club and raced to his ninth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.

At 130, Elsen, 28, won by six strokes on the Osprey Creek course. He opened with 68 on Wednesday to grab a share of the first round lead. Elsen made four birdies and a bogey the first round, an eagle at the par-5 13th and seven birdies in the final round.

He earned $950 from the $4,370 purse, raising his career total to $35,523 since he joined the MLGT in June, 2013. He also collected $928 from an optional bonus pool and another $169 from the skins game.

Matt Ceravolo of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Bo Hoag of Columbus, OH, tied with Elsen after Wednesday’s play, each adding another 68 for 136, tied for second among 23 starters with Dan McCarthy from Syracuse, NY (69-67).

Elsen also had the low score for 72 holes this week and will have his $4,500 entry fee paid into Web.com Tour Q-School later this year. He shot 141 to tie for eighth Monday and Tuesday at Abacoa GC in Jupiter for a total of 271 (68-73-68-62).

PALM CITY, Fla. - Matthew Ceravolo from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jordan Elsen from Kenosha, WI and Bo Hoag from Columbus, OH all fired 3-under par rounds of 68 on the Osprey Course at Martin Downs Country Club to lead the WEB.com Q-School Contest Finale.

Four players sit one shot back with rounds of 69 including Dan McCarthy from Syracuse, NY. Dan has won 3 times this year on the PGA Tour Canada. He is home this week and heads back to Canada next week for the final 3 events of the season. He currently sits atop the Order of Merit and has locked up his 2017 WEB.com Tour card. Dan has won 46 times on the Minor League Golf Tour.

Nine players chose to enter the optional $200 bonus pool. 100% of the bonus pool entry goes into the prize pool for those 9 players. 1st is $928, 2nd is $600 and 3rd is $272.

Matthew Ceravolo carries a one shot lead into the final round of the WEB.com Q-School contest. Brandon Smith sits in 2nd followed by Cory Stelick in 3rd.
