LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Justin Bryant of St. Louis, MO, birdied the first four holes on the back nine Tuesday and three more times had back-to-back birdies enroute to a nine under par 62 to win for the third time on the Minor League Golf Tour.
In addition to birdies at Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 13 at Atlantic National Golf Club, Bryant, 28, also made birdies at 3 and 4, 6 and 7, and 17 and 18. He bogeyed the par-4 16th hole and won by two strokes. Bryant collected $800 from the $4,440 purse and an additional $232 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $1,032.
Bryant's score is considered an unofficial course record. The Tour implemented a local rule this event of lift, clean and place due to the wet course conditions. The official course record of 63 was set by Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach in winning a MLGT event here Nov. 22 of this year.
Tied for second at 64 among 37 starters were Mike Miller of Brewster, NY, on seven birdies in a mistake-free round, and Nicolas Cavero of Valencia, Venezuelan, who had an eagle, six birdies and a bogey. They received $520 apiece.
