STUART, Fla. – Zach Zaback of Farmington, CT, won for the first time on the Minor League Golf Tour by scoring an error-free seven under par 65 on Monday at The Champions Club. Zaback, 22, birdied Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 12, 14 and 15.
Zaback received $800 from the $4,110 purse, raising his career earnings to $4,841 since he joined the MLGT last October. His previous best finish was second Nov. 28 on the Estate course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
Bo Hoag of Columbus, Ohio, who won two consecutive events last week, shot 70 Monday to tie for eighth. The fifth tournament of the year drew 32 entries. Next on the schedule: Tuesday, CC of Coral Springs, and Thursday, Jupiter Country Club.
Andrew Kim holed out for an eagle 2 on the par-4 16th hole en route to 68 and and a tie for 4th.
