PALM CITY, Fla. – Michael Chipolone of Boca Raton, FL, won for the first time on the Minor League Golf Tour, edging Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, WI, by a stroke Tuesday at Hammock Creek Golf Club.
Chipolone scored 68-70 (138) with three birdies and a bogey on each nine Monday, a total of three birdies and one bogey Tuesday. He received $1,300 from the $4,940 purse and an additional $80 in the skins game to raise his career earnings to $6,113 since last October.
Elsen rallied with the low score of the tournament Tuesday, a seven under par 65 with an eagle at the par-5 second hole and five birdies, but came up one shot short at 139, second among 17 starters. He opened with 74 on a birdie and three bogeys. Elsen has earnings of $39,503 and 11 wins since joining the MLGT in June, 2013.
Vincent Whaley of Atlanta, GA, tied for third at 140, was the day's leading money winner with $1,400. He received $800 from the purse and $600 from an optional bonus pool.
The fourth 2017 WEB.com Q-School Contest heads to Atlantis Country Club for the final 2 days. The low 4-day score for the week will have their 2017 Web.com Q-School paid for by the Minor League Golf Tour. At the halway point, Chipolone leads Jordan Elsen by 1 shot with Stelick and Whaley just 2 shots back at -4. Elsen won 2016 Web.com Q-School Contest #4 last August.

Michael Chipolone fired a 4-under par 68 to sit in solo 2nd place after Day 1 at Hammock Creek GC followed by 2 players tied for 3rd at 70.
