DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Patricio Salem of Lima, Peru, won for the second day in a row on the Minor League Golf Tour with a course record nine under par 63 Thursday at Seagate Country Club.
Salem twice made three birdies in a row, 3-4-5 and 9-10-11, then was five under par over four holes late in the day with an eagle at the par-5 15th and birdies at 14, 16 and 17. He bogeyed Nos. 13 and 18.
It was Salem’s third MLGT title following two wins at Jacaranda GC, March 8 and yesterday May 4. He nipped the course record of 64 set by Trevor Sluman of Rochester, NY, in an MLGT event here last September. Salem received $675 from the $3,460 purse to raise his career earnings to $9,547.
Bo Hoag of Columbus, OH, tied for second for the second straight day with 67 on seven birdies and a double bogey at the par-4 second hole. He was matched by Jason Thresher of West Suffield, Conn., who made seven birdies and two bogeys. Each received $475.
The 46th tournament of the year drew 29 starters. Three 18-hole events are scheduled next week: Sunday, North Palm Beach CC; Tuesday, Martin Downs CC, Palm City; and Wednesday back here at Seagate.
The Minor League Golf Tour would like to wish all players with MLGT experience good luck in their US Open local qualifiers next week!
