CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – In the Minor League Golf Tour’s 100th tournament of the year, Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach, FL, won his career 59th title Wednesday. LeBrun edged Max Buckley of Rye, NY, 68-69, at the Tournament Players Club at Eagle Trace despite a bogey at the par-4 18th hole. Buckley, who finished nearly an hour earlier, had birdied the 18th. Overall, LeBrun also made five birdies, Buckley four with one bogey.
A graduate of John I. Leonard High School and Florida Atlantic University, LeBrun, 39, tied Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge with 59 wins today. Lytle is still the career money leader with $226,207 after matching par-72 Wednesday to finish tied for sixth among 27 starters, worth $172.50. The MLGT has staged 1,528 tournaments since beginning in August, 2004.
LeBrun collected $650 from the $3,235 purse, $348 from an optional bonus pool and $60 in skins for a total of $1,058, raising his career earnings to $165,118 since August, 2007.
