POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Jason Thresher of West Suffield, Conn., earned his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour with a six under par 65 Wednesday on the Cypress course at Palm Aire Country Club.
Thresher made six birdies (Nos. 1, 3, 6, 9, 15 and 16) and did not have a bogey, winning by two strokes. Thresher received $750 from the $3,840 purse and an additional $228 from an optional bonus pool and $100 in skins, raising his total for the day to $1,078. This boosted his career earnings to $5,804 in 18 starts since March.
Eric Beringer of Philadelphia, PA, was second among 32 starters with 67 on four birdies.
Nine players chose to enter the optional 3-event cumulative bonus pool this week. The entry fee was $150 and scores from all 3 one day events this week counted towards the cumulative bonus pool. Jamie Sindelar and Mike Miller tied for first with a 54 hole total of 209 (-5). They each earned $573 from the bonus pool.
