JUPITER, Fla. - Zach Zaback from Farmington, CT, fired a bogey free 8-under par 64 Tuesday to win by three strokes at Abacoa Golf Club. He carded 4 birdies on each nine including 2 of his final 3 holes.
Zaback played his college golf at the University of Connecticut from 2012-2016. After good play all the way through Web.com Q-School, including medalist honors at his 1st stage site, he has Web.com status for 2018.
Zach earned $1,000 from the $5,745 purse plus $231 from the optional bonus pool for a total of $1,231 raising his MLGT career earnings to $27,602.
Evan Russell from Essex, VT and Blaze Hogan from Big Rapids, MI, tie for 2nd at 5-under par 67. Each earned $600.
The fourth tournament of the year drew 47 starters. Play was interrupted for an hour and 4 minutes by heavy rain but once the cell moved through and the water subsided on the greens, play was resumed.
Major I at CC of Coral Springs is just 2 1/2 weeks away (Jan 29-30) followed by Qualifying School Contest #1 Presented by Joey D Golf and Clubcraft at PGA National Estates the following week (Feb 5-6).
