WELLINGTON, Fla. – Olin Browne Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL, fired consecutive two under par 70's in Minor League Golf Tour play at Wellington National Golf Club, turning a share of the first round lead Monday into a big payday Tuesday.
The son of former U.S. Senior Open champion Olin Browne Sr., Olin Jr. received $1,600 from the $6,830 purse, another $445 from an optional bonus pool and $4,500 toward his Q-school entry fee later this year from winning Qualifying School Contest #2 for a total of $6,545.
It was Olin Jr’s seventh MLGT victory overall, his first since Jan. 8 on the Estate course at PGA National. He made five birdies each round, three bogeys Monday, a bogey and a double bogey Tuesday, at the par-5 sixth hole.
Josh Hart won the 2nd Day Shootout worth $232 with a score of 72.

The MLGT’s 45th tournament of the year drew 26 entries. Next on the schedule is an 18-hole event Thursday at Jupiter CC.
WELLINGTON, Fla. - Andrew Gai from Westport, CT and Olin Browne Jr. from Hobe Sound, FL share the lead at 2-under par 70 after day 1 at Wellington National Golf Club. Both men went out in one over par 37 and came home in three under 33.
Three players are tied for 3rd at 71 including Justin Hicks, Nick Latimer and Kevin Phelan.
Nineteen of the twenty six players chose to enter the optional Qualifying School Contest. The entry fee was $200 and the low score after 36 holes will earn $4,500 towards the Q-School entry fee of their choice.
