PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Oscar Fraustro of Mexico City birdied the first extra hole Thursday to earn his fourth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. The win was worth $1,112, including $700 from the $3,325 purse, another $232 from an optional bonus pool and $180 more from a skins game.
Playing the Palmer course at PGA National, Fraustro and Paul Park of Wayne, NJ, tied at five under par 67. Both reached the green at the par-5 18th hole in three, Park missed on his 25-foot birdie try and Fraustro sank a 10-footer for the win.
In regulation, Fraustro made six birdies and a bogey. Finishing second among 27 starters, Park eagled the par-5 12th hole to go with six birdies and three bogeys. He received $590 including $60 in skins. Park has one MLGT win heretofore.
Play resumes next week with a 36-hole event Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Lucie Trail GC in Port St. Lucie. It will be the MLGT’s 1600th tournament since beginning play in August, 2004. There are 79 former MLGT members with playing status this year on the PGA and Web.com tours.
Qualifying School Contest #3 starts in just 11 days at the beautiful Seagate Country Club. It is a 36 hole event Monday and Tuesday May 21-22.
