PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Bryden Macpherson of Melbourne, Australia, playing in the first group off the tee Monday, birdied his last two holes for 68 and it held up for his sixth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Macpherson edged Anthony Alex of Wayne, NJ, playing in the second threesome of the day on the Palmer course at PGA National. Alex birdied the 16th hole but parred the last two for 69.
Overall, Macpherson made five birdies and a bogey, collecting $600 from the $2,250 purse. He also received $150 from an optional bonus pool and $50 in the skins game for a total of $800 for the day. This raised his career earnings to $15,360 since November, 2016. Alex, still looking for his first MLGT victory, had an eagle at the par-5 fourth hole, two birdies and a bogey. He pocketed a total of $540.
The Stuart-based mini-tour plays twice more this week before taking its annual summer break: Tuesday, Summer Team Championship, Abacoa GC, Jupiter, and Wednesday, Atlantic National GC, Lake Worth. Play will resume July 16 at Eagle Trace GC in Coral Springs.
