PLANTATION, Fla. – Hunter O’Mahony of Tequesta, FL, made four straight birdies on the front nine Wednesday enroute to a nine under par 62 and his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Following birdies at Nos. 2 through 5 at Plantation Preserve Golf Course, O’Mahony birdied 8, 9, 10, 14 and 16. He did not make a bogey.
In making just his 16th MLGT start since September, 2016, his ninth this year, O’Mahony collected $750 from the $4,125 purse plus $228 from the optional bonus pool, raising career earnings to $5,743.
Hunter's 62 tied the course record held by Daniel Berger. Berger competed on the MLGT twice back in 2013 and 2014.
Jesus Rivas Garcia of Bogota, Colombia, making his second MLGT start, was second among 33 entries with 65 on six birdies. He shot 69-66 earlier this week to take seventh at Indian Spring CC in Boynton Beach.
