JUPITER, Fla. – Justin Hicks of Wellington, FL and Grosse Ile, MI, made five straight birdies on the inward nine Thursday enroute to his 42nd victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Hicks held off Mexico City’s Oscar Fraustro 65-66 at Jupiter Country Club.
Overall, Hicks made eight birdies and a bogey, collecting $900 from the $6,240 purse and an additional $232 from an optional bonus pool. His total for the day was $1,132, raising his career earnings to $120,562 since March, 2005.
Fraustro, playing one group behind Hicks, eagled the par-5 16th hole and made four birdies to finish second among 48 starters. He received $650 from the main purse, $199 from the bonus pool and $90 from the skins game for a total of $939.
The 2018 Joey D Golf Match Play Championship starts in just 4 days! It will be staged at Wellington National Golf Club starting Monday 10/29. The entry fee is $375 and there is an optional $125 shootout during Monday's seeding round. The low 16 scores from Monday's seeding round will advandce to match play Tuesday morning. Match play will follow Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and the final's match will take place Wednesday afternoon. Joey D Golf is adding $1,000 to the purse!
