JUPITER, Fla. - Chris Wiatr from Woodbury, CT overcame a eight shot deficit during the final round with a bogey free final round of 64 to go with his opening round 68 at Abacoa Golf Club to win the 2018 MLG Tour Championship by one.
Overnight leader Sunny Kim entered the final round four ahead of 2nd place and eight shots ahead of Wiatr after nearly shooting 59 on day one. His opening round of 60 is a new record on both the MLGT and at Abacoa Golf Club.
After an opening front nine 32 by Wiatr he chipped in for eagle at the par-5 10th hole to pull one behind leader Sunny Kim. Chris would go on to birdie 13 and 17 and post 10-under par 132. Kim birdied the par-5 17th hole to get to -10 but a bogey on the difficult 18th hole proved to be the difference. Wiatr earned $10,000 for the win, Kim $4,000 for 2nd.
A big thank you to Abacoa Golf Club for being a great host venue and to Joey D Golf for sponsoring the event and adding $3,000 to the purse.

In the skins game, all the holes were halved so MLGT policy is the holes with the least number of ties split the skins pot. Four holes had 2 players tied on them so those eight players won $112.50 each. Click on any of the $ links on the skins/total page to view the skins results.
There is an optional $50 2nd day shootout for those players at 72 and higher after day 1. You must register online before the first tee time Wednesday morning.
