MIAMI, Fla. – Rasmey Kong scored a bounced back victory Tuesday by winning a Minor League Golf Tour tournament at the International Links Miami. At three under par 139, Kong won by two strokes. He made five consecutive birdies on the front nine Monday enroute to 67, then closed with 72. In 36 holes, he had nine birdies and six bogeys, earning $1,800 from the $9,900 purse and an additional $420 from an optional bonus pool. This raised his career MLGT earnings to $31,965 since joining the tour in November 2015.
The son of Cambodian refugees, Kong, 23, of North Haven, CT, was the medalist in October at Breakers West in West Palm Beach for the first stage of qualifying for the 2020 Korn Ferry Tour. But he missed out at the second stage earlier this month at Southern Hills in Brooksville.
Only four players broke par for the 36 holes on a championship course with some windy conditions.
The MLGT’s 126th tournament of the year drew 36 entries.

Rasmey Kong is one back at 67 followed by Mike Miller and Preston French at 68. Only 7 players broke par on the challenging par 71 course.
There is an OPTIONAL $50 2nd day shootout for players that are outside the money after day one (75 and higher). If you would like to participate you must sign up and pay before the first tee time on Tuesday. No exceptions.
