PLANTATION, Fla. – Hunter O’Mahony of Tequesta, FL scored his second Minor League Golf Tour victory Thursday, edging local favorite Stephen P. Grant 67-68 on the East course at Jacaranda Golf Club.
O’Mahony sandwiched an eagle at the par-5 ninth hole with two birdies and a bogey on each side. He collected $600 from the $2,175 purse plus an additional $150 from an optional bonus pool and $25 in skins for a total of $775, boosting his career earnings to $10,343 since September, 2018.
Grant, of Plantation, FL, was second among 18 starters with five birdies and two bogeys. He pocketed $450.
The final Monday Qualifying School Contest presented by Abacoa GC of 2019 is next week with three one-day events in a row. Tuesday at Abacoa GC, Wednesday at Wellington National GC and Thursday at Atlantis CC. Anyone that plays all three events is automatically entered into the contest and the player with the lowest 3-day cumulative score wins a $1,000 bonus to go compete in a monday qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
