LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. – Joaquin Lolas of Juno Beach, FL, and Chris Wiatr of Woodbury, CT, matched seven under par 65's Tuesday to share honors on the Minor League Golf Tour. Neither made a bogey on the South course at Fountains Country Club.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, no playoffs have been conducted since the MLGT resumed play on May 18. One of the very strict Covid-19 rules is that players are not permitted to wait around/congregate after their round which makes playoffs impossible until the rules relax.
It was Lolas’ second victory, the fifth for Wiatr. Lolas birdied Nos. 4, 5, 9, 12, 13, 15 and 18; Wiate the fifth, sixth, 11th. 12th, 15th, 17th and 18th. They received $610 apiece from the $3,245 purse plus an additional $175 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $785.
The MLGT’s 63rd tournament of the year drew 27 starters. A 36-hole event is schedule Thursday and Friday at Falls Country Club.
