BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Jimmy Hervol from Hopkinton, MA wins a weather shortened event on the East course at Indian Spring CC by a shot over a duo of charging competitors. He started the day with a 2 shot lead after an opening round 65. A rain storm that came through before round 2 started delayed tee times by 60 minutes. Darkness set in after the final group finished the 14th hole making this a 32 hole event. Hervol added 4 birdies in the final round to get to -11 and did not make a bogey in 32 holes. He earned $2,100 from the $15,804 purse plus $462 from the bonus pool and $440 in skins for a total of $3,002.
Sunny Kim and Michael Graboyes tried as hard as they could to catch Hervol. Both started the day tied for 4th and made 6 birdies and no bogies in the first 14 holes to get within a shot of Hervol.
MLGT policy on a shortened event states that if the all players finish at least half the scheduled starting holes it is an official event and however many holes the final group completes count for the event. So even though many groups finished 36 holes, the final group finished 14 on the final round making it a 32 hole event (par 128).
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Jimmy Hervol from Hopkinton, MA nearly shot 59 two months ago at PGA Estate and got hot again today. He played the 6 hole stretch of 5-10 at 6-under par. He would add a birdie on the par-5 16th to get to -7 during a bogey free first round.
Charlie Dubiel, a recent Cornell grad, fired 67 during his pro debut and will enter the final round tied for 2nd just two behind Hervol.
